All members of the Spartanburg Day School community are expected to conduct themselves according to the principles set forth in the school honor code.
The honor council, consisting of both students and faculty, is the body charged with educating the community about the honor code, as well as applying appropriate consequences in instances where the honor code has been broken.
Students on the honor council must go through an application and election process and are held to the highest standards of academic and personal integrity.

Community Service is a living and authentic component of 高中 life. Students assume true leadership roles and are expected to give fully of themselves for the betterment of their community.
Two service organizations are available for students: Interact, the Upper School boys' service organization, and ASTRA, the 高中 girls' service organization.
Spartanburg Day School believes that leadership is a skill that can be learned. It is a practice whose essential elements can be identified, understood and developed. Leader development at Spartanburg Day School rests on three elements:
- Self-awareness and a commitment to personal excellence (development of character traits).
- Building connectivity and inclusion within a community.
- The practicing of the skills of leadership with peer and instructor feedback.
Spartanburg Day School is committed to developing students’ individual leadership capacity by providing students with positional leadership opportunities and equipping students to live the mission of the Spartanburg Day School.
The Spartanburg Day School House System was established in the fall of 2015 to encourage community, commitment and involvement among students from kindergarten through the 12th grade, as well as faculty members.
Students are divided into six houses, named after the previous headmasters of Spartanburg Day School. Houses participate in various competitive activities throughout the school year. Students remain in the same house for all their years here, forming long lasting relationships across divisions.
